As she wandered along the beach, our heroine found a crippled bird. Cradling it in her arms she hurried home to tend to its wounds. On the wet sand lay yet another crippled bird. Unable to carry two struggling, injured creatures, she left one behind, in order to attempt to save the other.
Should we be angered by her lack of compassion, or by the difficulty of the circumstances that caused one injured bird to be washed out to sea on the tide?
Will we be godly enough to love someone who would make such a cruel reality for themselves?
